Metals We Accept

Insulated Copper Wire (ICW)

Insulated Copper Wire (ICW) refers to copper electrical wire covered in plastic or rubber insulation. Found in household wiring, extension cords, and electronics, it must be stripped or shredded to recover the copper inside. ICW varies in value depending on the copper content and thickness of the insulation.

Aluminum BX

Aluminum BX is a type of armored cable with an aluminum sheath protecting internal wires. Commonly used in commercial and residential electrical systems, it’s recyclable for both the aluminum outer casing and the insulated wires inside. Proper recycling separates the materials to maximize recovery and value.

1S Wire

1S Wire typically refers to single-strand copper wire with minimal insulation, often used in electrical panels and high-voltage installations. Because it contains thick copper strands and little coating, it’s easy to process and highly valuable. It’s commonly recovered from construction and demolition projects.

Extension / Power Cords

Extension and power cords are everyday electrical cables with copper wire inside and rubber or plastic insulation outside. They’re found in homes, offices, and workshops. These cords are cut and processed in recycling centers to recover the copper and sometimes the plug hardware if it’s metal.

Car Harness Wires

Car Harness Wires are bundles of insulated copper wire used in automotive electrical systems. They power lights, sensors, and electronic components. Recycling involves stripping or shredding these harnesses to separate copper, insulation, and any plastic connectors. They’re one of the richer copper sources in automotive scrap.

Christmas Lights

Christmas Lights are decorative strings with small bulbs and copper wire inside plastic insulation. While they may not seem valuable, they contain copper and sometimes brass plugs. These are collected in bulk and shredded to separate the metal from the plastic. Even seasonal items have scrap potential!

Ethernet Cables

Ethernet Cables are data transmission wires used in computer networks, often made with twisted copper pairs inside plastic insulation. These are recycled like other insulated wires, providing clean copper once stripped or processed. They often come from office upgrades or tech cleanouts.

ACSR

ACSR (Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced) wire is a type of overhead power line wire with a steel core wrapped in aluminum strands. It’s used in utility transmission lines and is prized for its strength and conductivity. Recycling involves separating the two metals to recover both aluminum and steel.

Steel BX

Steel BX is flexible armored cable with a steel casing and insulated copper wire inside. Common in commercial electrical systems, this wire must be cut and stripped to recover the copper and steel components. It’s heavy-duty and recyclable but may require extra processing effort.

Insulated Aluminum Wires

Insulated Aluminum Wires are electrical cables made of aluminum cores with plastic or rubber coatings. They’re lighter than copper and used in residential and utility applications. These wires are stripped or granulated to extract the aluminum, which is then melted and reused in new products.
